Background: In the advent of COVID-19, virtual options for collaboration in educational endeavors greatly expanded among institutions. Through the Academy of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (ACLP) Residency Education Subcommittee a webinar series was formed that allowed showcasing of ACLP’s special interest groups (SIG), subcommittees, and individual expertise via a Case Conference Webinar Platform.
Methods: A systematic approach was used for panelist selection, content creation, advertisement dissemination, practice session coordination, DEI integration, live webinar moderation, and social media sharing. Planning occurs 4-5 months in advance of the live webinar. Webinar structure includes: moderator introduction, trainee case presentation, expert discussant lecture, and question/answer session. Webinar metrics are followed including: number of registrants, returning registrants, live webinar attendance, geographic location of registrants, level of training of registrants, and YouTube views after posting.
Results: To date, 15 successful webinars have occurred representing 8 SIGS, 4 subcommittees, and 3 Journal of ACLP manuscripts. The series has had a total of 2845 registrants (average 189 per webinar). Both new and return registration metrics continue to rise as popularity increases. Registrant location includes US Northeast (40%), South (20%), West (15%), International (13%), and Midwest (12%). Nearly half of registrants are in training (47%).
Discussion: The ACLP Case Conference webinar series has successfully provided an internationally reaching educational platform for a variety of subspecialty CL topics. Each webinar incorporates a trainee presenter role and an expert discussant role allowing a mentorship opportunity, dissemination of subspecialty content, and showcasing of the many SIG and Subcommittees of ACLP.
