· Background

Burnout is pervasive across all medical disciplines, demographic groups, and professional life cycle. Sustaining agile and formidable healthcare delivery and professional fulfillment requires the whole-health of all providers. Part and parcel to that process is offering systems for evaluating, monitoring, and intervening throughout the clinician’s career.



· Approach

This workshop will utilize adult-learning principles to enhance engagement in C-L psychiatry (CLP) providers . We identify the incidence of burnout in healthcare workers, US trainees (highlighting psychiatry), particularly the difference across genders, and under-represented communities. We identify a GME-level quality improvement project focused on identifying burnout and interventions in trainees across programs, with an emphasis on system-level integration. Additionally, focus is given to challenges across phases of the professional life cycle with emphasis on gender and racial disparities, with suggestions offered on ways to surmount these. Finally, an innovative technique to promoting professional wellbeing and fulfillment, based on Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy and “personal mission development”, is presented.
