Dr. David Fipps is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and a senior associate consultant in consultation liaison psychiatry, addictions psychiatry, transplant surgery psychiatry, and bariatric surgery psychiatry at Mayo Clinic. He graduated summa cum laude from Southern Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in chemistry. He completed his medical school training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (in Bradenton, Florida), his adult psychiatry residency at the University of South Carolina (in Greenville, SC), his consultation liaison psychiatry fellowship at Mayo Clinic (in Rochester, MN), and his addictions psychiatry fellowship at Mayo Clinic (in Rochester, MN). He serves on the ACLP mentorship subcommittee and is the chair of the residency education subcommittee. He received the ACLP William Webb Fellowship in 2019 and the ACLP Stoudemire Innovations in Education Award in 2024. He is also the administrator of the CL psychiatry Facebook group: CLPEN and the moderator of the ACLP case conference webinar series.
