Dr. Smith is a psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), with a focus on the clinical care of patients with medical and psychiatric illness. She currently serves as the Director of the Division of Psychiatry and Medicine at MGH, Chief of the Psychiatry Consultation Service, Director of the HIV Psychiatry Program, and Associate Chief of the Department of Psychiatry. She has served as the director of several other clinical programs, including the Transplant Psychiatry Program, the Acute Psychiatry Service at MGH, and the Behavioral and Mental Health Service at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Her clinical experience has focused on the management of acute psychiatric illness and the presentation of comorbid psychiatric and medical illness, especially HIV. She also enjoys teaching and working with residents/fellows and previously served as Program Director of the MGH/McLean Adult Residency Program.
