Dr. Stephanie Schmitz attended medical school at the University of Maryland and completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at Emory University, followed by a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She joined New York University School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Bellevue Hospital in 2019. She has a primary appointment in the Department of Medicine and a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry. She splits her clinical service at Bellevue between the Psychiatry consultation services and the Primary Care Behavioral Health outpatient medicine clinic. She is passionate about public hospital service and is devoted to her goal of providing care to patients with serious comorbid medical and psychiatric illnesses. In her time outside the hospital, she is an avid salsa and flamenco dancer.
