Dr. Vanessa Padilla trained as a psychiatrist at the University of Puerto Rico and completed a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Miami. She completed an Electroconvulsive Therapy Visiting Fellowship Certification at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Padilla serves as an Assistant Professor and was appointed as Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship Program Director from 2016-2023, now transitioned to Program Director of the Psychiatry Residency Program at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. She also serves as the Medical Director of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Service at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Her academic position entails clinical education, direct patient care, leadership roles, and clinical research. She provides direct psychiatry consultation services at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She volunteers at San Juan Bosco community clinic, an UM medical-student-run psychiatry clinic. She chairs the UM Graduate Medical Education (GME) Wellness Committee. She is currently a member of the American Psychiatric Association with APA Fellow (FAPA) status, as well as a member of Florida Psychiatric Society, Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Association for Academic Psychiatry, and The American College of Psychiatrists.
