Dr. Kruis currently serves as the Director of Grants and Research at the Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) Center for Telehealth. In this role, he oversees the Center’s involvement in all telehealth research initiatives, directs the Center’s data and outcomes team, and acts as Administrative Director for MUSC’s $4.25M annual HRSA-funded National Telehealth Center of Excellence (COE) award. As part of the COE, he serves as PI of a telehealth-enabled collaborative care pilot among rural primary care clinics. Dr. Kruis also provides leadership support to our HRSA Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network program grant and serves as an advisor to the SC Department of Mental Health’s HRSA-funded Youth Psychiatric Access Line. Dr. Kruis is also a licensed clinical social worker, a member of the SC Behavioral Health Coalition, and a member of the National Rural Health Association’s Behavioral Health Policy Workgroup. Dr. Kruis' research interests include integrated behavioral health in rural communities, innovative uses of telehealth, and dissemination and implementation science.
