Dr. Leon-Barriera was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He completed his undergraduate training at the Pontifical Catholic University of PR, his MD at the University of PR, and his Psychiatry residency at The University of Connecticut. He also completed a Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry fellowship at The University of Pennsylvania. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at The University of Pittsburgh. He has a wide variety of clinical interests that include: transplant, addiction medicine, psycho-oncology, and critical care psychiatry.
