Richard Bido Medina MD/PhD is an Associate Program Director at the MGH/McLean Psychhiatry Residency. He is also the Director of Training and Education of Public and Community Psychiatry and Associate Director of the Hispanic Clinic at MGH. He is originally from Villa Tapia, a small town in the Dominican Republic, and attended medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. He received a Fulbright scholarship to complete his PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied the brain structure and function of adults with Zika virus. Richard then completed his psychiatry residency training MGH/McLean, serving as both Administrative Chief Resident and Public and Community Psychiatry Chief Resident. He was a member of the Physician-Scientist Training Program (PSTP) and a founding member of the Psychiatry Resident Hispanic Clinic. He served as a resident member of the APA Council on Research and was the recipient of multiple national awards, including the National Neuroscience Curriculum Initiative Fellowship and the American College of Psychiatrists’ Laughlin Fellowship Award. Upon his residency graduation, he was recognized with the PSTP Award, Resident Educator Award, and the Joyce and Richard Tedlow Award for the integration of research, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy. Throughout his career, Richard has been a strong promotor of DEI initiatives and his clinical interests include neuropsychiatry and Health Disparities.
