Shamim Nejad, MD, FASAM, FACLP, completed medical school and Psychiatry Residency at University of Washington in Seattle, and his Psychiatry Consultation Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is currently a consultation-liaison psychiatrist and addiction medicine physician at UW Medicine Valley Medical Center. In addition to psychiatry, he is board-certified in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry, Addiction Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. His clinical interests and expertise revolve around the provision of care for patients with complex medical, surgical, and critical care illness involving co-occurring neuropsychiatric and substance use disorders.
Dr. Nejad has been active in teaching internal medicine, surgery, and psychiatry trainees, and has received numerous awards for his teaching and care of patients by hospital staff. Through his work in clinical care, research, and education, Dr. Nejad has sought to improve the care of patients at the interface of medicine, psychiatry and substance use disorders.
