Emily Fries is a Senior Nurse Clinician for Inpatient Psychiatry at New York University Langone Medical Center and a founding member of NYULMC's Behavioral Emergency Response Team. As one of NYULMC's Psychiatric Nurse Liaisons, she partners with CL psychiatrists to coach bedside nurses in how to provide trauma-informed and compassionate care to medical patients with co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses. Ms. Fries also works in private practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
In 2022, Ms. Fries developed a one-hour class, "De-Escalation Techniques and the Crisis Team Leader Model" for hospital staff that combines evidence-based conflict management techniques with role-playing scenarios that reflect frequently encountered BERT situations.
Ms. Fries is a second-career nurse and an avid New Yorker. Prior to nursing, she worked as a communications, fundraising and grant officer for non-governmental organizations.
