Jerry Ignatius is an assistant professor in the department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is also the Center Medical Director of the Psychiatric Oncology Clinic at MD Anderson. He finished his medical school training at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his General Psychiatry Residency training at The University of Texas Medical Branch. He completed his fellowship training in Psychiatric-Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. His Academic interests include helping patients/colleagues connect to their personal mission, Demoralization and Depression in Cancer Patients and psychotherapies such as Psychodrama and Meaning Centered Psychotherapy based on the work of Viktor Frankl. He has also created a Personal Mission Adaptation to Meaning Centered Psychotherapy to help ameliorate provider burnout through connection with one’s calling.
