Dr. Kotara was born in Dallas, Texas and obtained her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Her residency in Psychiatry was at the University of Texas Southwestern Regional Programs at Austin, where she also completed her subspecialty training in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and is board certified in Psychiatry as well as Consultation Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Kotara continues her primary clinical work in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, where she enjoys working collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and with colleagues across specialties to address complex challenges facing patients experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders. Her interests include medical education, integrated care, psychotherapy, and transplant psychiatry.
