Dr. Kao earned her medical degree at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. She subsequently completed residency in adult psychiatry at Boston University Medical Center and fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. She currently serves as medical director of the consultation-liaison psychiatry service at the West Roxbury VA. She is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a part-time lecturer in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She currently serves as chair of the ACLP Medical Student Education Subcommittee and site director for Boston University psychiatry clerkship students at the West Roxbury VA. Her interests include medical education and the connections between psychiatry and spirituality/religion.
