Aqsa Ghaffar is a medical student at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, building upon her academic foundation with a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Health Policy from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Hunter College, earned in May 2020. Her journey in medicine has been shaped by a commitment to research, advocacy, and community service. At NYU Langone Health, she focused on researching COVID-19 treatment efficacy, while at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she delved into investigating healthcare disparities. Aqsa's leadership roles include serving as Clinic Co-Director at the Rochester Human Rights Initiative, where she oversaw pro bono trauma-informed evaluations for asylum seekers, and as E-board Director for the American Medical Woman’s Association, coordinating student-run clinics to provide healthcare access to underserved communities. Aqsa's volunteer work extends to organizations like Refugees Helping Refugees, where she developed a COVID-19 Education Program targeting refugee populations to increase awareness and vaccine acceptance. Her scholarly contributions encompass a range of research areas, including dermatology, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology. Aqsa's overarching goal is to become a compassionate and competent physician, dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities and improving access to care for marginalized communities.
