J. Michael Bostwick, MD, FACLP, is a consultant in psychiatry at Mayo Clinic, Professor of Psychiatry in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and the Senior Associate Dean of Admissions, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. He directs Disruptions in Development, a first-year medical school course of his own design, and teaches at all levels of the medical school and in Mayo's psychiatry residency, including a psychotherapy group supervision for third and fourth-year psychiatry residents. His research interests include suicide epidemiology, assessment and management of suicidal states, medical marijuana, and a broad range of psychosomatic topics. He has more than 110 publications to his credit, many of them written with medical students, psychiatry residents, and junior faculty whom he mentors. He oversees medical school admissions activities on all three Mayo campuses (Minnesota, Arizona, Florida) in his role as admissions dean.
