Assistant Professor
Louisiana State Health Science Center
I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. During the past 5 years I have had the privilege to provide mental health services at our integrated HIV clinic. A position in which I am often working with individuals to address all aspects of their mental health including substance use disorders. My interest in working with people living with HIV (PWH) began during my residency when I was given the opportunity to work with the LSU Psychology department in evaluating the issues that low educational achievement had in screening for HIV Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND). This opportunity fostered a desire to continue the pursuit of working with PWH to address health disparities and improve health outcomes. I was able to continue that in my work as a sub-investigator in the Financial Incentives, Randomization, and Stepped Therapy trial (FIRST) where using contingency management and motivational enhancement to assist in addressing unhealthy alcohol use in PWH.
