Guang was born in Beijing, China, and completed his Bachelor's of Science degree in Physiology & Neuroscience at University of California, San Diego. He completed his thesis work in the lab of Dr. Tony Yang (UCSF) using functional neuroimaging to study emotional processing in adolescents with depression. He then worked as a research associate at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development using neuroimaging tools to characterize neural circuitry changes associated with rural and urban upbringing and genetic risk of neuropsychiatric diseases. He is currently an MSTP trainee at the University of Utah. He completed his doctoral thesis in the Shcheglovitov Lab, using iPSC-derived neurons and organoids to characterize patients with autism spectrum disorders and bipolar disorder. He is pursuing an academic career in psychiatry.
