Dr. Aaron Pinkhasov is the Founding Chair of the Behavioral Health Department at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island and is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Medicine at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine. He completed highly competitive combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency program at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York in 2001. Upon completion he served as the Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.
Prior to NYU-Long Island, Dr Pinkhasov was on the faculty at Downstate Medical Center and chaired Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY from 2001 until 2014.
The author of multiple publications and presentations, Dr. Pinkhasov has received several professional honors, including the President’s Award from the Office of the President, Borough of Brooklyn, the Distinguished Recognition Award for Dedication and Commitment to Psychiatric Residency Education in Geriatric Psychiatry 2002-2014 from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and the Innovative Model for Integrated Care Award from the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry in 2017.
He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry, member of the Psychosomatic Committee at the Group for Advancement of Psychiatry and a Board member of the American Delirium Society. His areas of research include psychopharmacology and neurocognitive disorders, as well as the role of psychiatry service in optimizing health outcomes.
