Joaquin Santoy is first-generation physician who graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.S. in Biochemistry. He then graduated from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. He is currently in his third year of residency in Adult Psychiatry. He was selected as a core chief for the upcoming 2024 – 2025 academic year during which time he plans to complete a Public & Community Psychiatry Fellowship as well. He has a particular interest in the intersection of neurology and psychiatry, especially in the context of neuropsychiatric disorders such as catatonia. He plans on pursuing a Consult-Liaison fellowship after residency to better care for Veterans with medical complexities. He currently is a participant in the Navy Financial Assistance Program and plans to serve in the Navy after his training.
