Michigan Medicine
Samantha graduated from Michigan State University with Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Human Capital Studies. She continued her educational career with the University of Michigan to graduate in 2015 with a Master of Social Work. Samantha’s areas of interest include integrated health care and managing co-occurring medical and mental health conditions. Her passion to identify and address inequities began as an undergraduate student conducting research alongside faculty examining housing disparities in Detroit neighborhoods. After completing her graduate program, Samantha remained at Michigan Medicine to work as an Inpatient General Medicine Social Worker, an Adult Psychiatric Consult Liaison Social Worker, and an Ambulatory Care Social Worker advocating for social justice in various spaces along the way. Samantha’s experience working with populations across the lifespan in both inpatient and outpatient settings has furthered her engagement in departmental and institutional efforts for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Now, Samantha serves as one of the program managers for the Healthcare Equity Consult Service, aligning with her passion for further research and best practice standards to reduce health inequities and improve health outcomes in historically vulnerable populations.
