Dr. Mahgoub received his medical degree from the University of Khartoum, Faculty of Medicine in Sudan, in 2007. He trained in Psychiatry in Sudan before he moved to the US. He completed his psychiatry residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in 2016. He worked in New York City as a teaching faculty and served as an inpatient unit director at Maimonides Medical Center. Dr. Mahgoub currently works as an attending in the inpatient unit of Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute and as an assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral health at Penn State Medical School, where he works mainly with the geriatric population and performs ECT.
Dr. Mahgoub is interested in medical education and has received several teaching awards for excellence. Additionally, he has several publications and mentored several students and residents in several scholarly posters, presentations, and publications.
Dr. Mahgoub is interested in mood disorders, catatonia, and improving nosology and descriptive psychopathology of psychiatric disorders.
