Liliana Patarroyo Rodriguez, M.D., M.S. is a fourth-year psychiatry resident at Mayo Clinic Rochester, currently serving as chief resident. Originally from Ibague, Colombia, she obtained her medical degree from the Universidad del Tolima. Her combined interests in mental illness and underserved populations led her to complete psychiatry training in Colombia with a research focus on consult liaison and mood disorders. Following residency, she earned a master’s degree in epidemiology and was integral to the development of a psychiatry research group, where she subsequently served as the director, at a top-ranked hospital in Latin America. There her clinical practice was entirely in consultation liaison. To enrich her training, she moved to the United States to attend Mayo Clinic as a psychiatry resident where she has been involved in research focused in catatonia and mood disorders.
