Madalyn Rivas is from Union City, CA. She will be completing her residency from St. Joseph's Medical Center which serves an underserved population. Because she enjoyed serving this type of population, she will be staying locally and working as a hospitalist in Lodi, CA after graduation. She has found that the patient population in this community comes with many unique pathologies which she finds fascinating. She enjoys the challenge of having to think more broadly beyond her specialty due to the limited amount of specialist in the community. She is a first generation physician and finds that there are many young teenagers in this community who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. She hopes to one day be able to inspire them to pursue their dreams to advance their education whether it be in medicine, kinesiology or business.
