Dr. Ammar Ahmad received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the St. George's University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in psychiatry from the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, New Jersey. This was followed by a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center. During his fellowship, he also obtained an advanced certificate in bioethics after completing a course of study in the program jointly conducted by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. For the past four years, Dr. Ahmad is and has been the attending psychiatrist for the heart and lung transplant programs at Montefiore Medical Center. In this role, he is a member of both the heart and lung transplant selection committees. As well he is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and teaches medical students, residents, and fellows. In addition, Dr. Ahmad is also a member of the Montefiore Einstein Bioethics Committee.
