Nicolas Iadarola, MD MS, is a resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center/Sheppard Pratt. His a long interest in the neurobiology of mental health and psychiatry dates back to summers volunteering at the NIH learning about TMS for stroke recovery and attending psychiatry rounds at NIMH. Then, after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology, he received an NIH Intramural Research Training Award and studied Ketamine as a rapidly-acting antidepressant in treatment resistant patients. He then went on to complete a Masters in Biophysics and Physiology at the Georgetown University Special Masters Program. This work has carried him from the bench to the bedside, where where after immersion in the research aspects of biomedicine, he realized he was driven to help patients achieve positive results in their lives, and he completed medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson. He is still exploring his career goals within the field of psychiatry. Outside of residency, he is an avid soccer fan and trivia enthusiast, and he enjoys hiking with his wife, son, and dog.
