Dr Matthew Elton is an early career Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist working at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, NSW, Australia, in Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD). He is an Associate Lecturer with the University of Newcastle, Medical Lead for Eating Disorders for HNE Mental Health Service, and provides psychiatry support to the HNELHD Huntington's Disease Clinic. His special interests include Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Somatic Symptom Disorder (SSD). He completed his specialtist psychiatry training in 2022 with a HETI Special Psychiatry Training Fellowship in FND and SSD, which included establishing a dedicated FND outpatient clinic and contributing to FND service development and research initiatives in collaboration with John Hunter Hospital Neurology Department.
