Dr. Daniel Shalev is Assistant Professor of Medicine and Medicine-in-Psychiatry at Weill Cornell. He completed psychiatry residency at Columbia University followed by fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Columbia and Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Cornell/Columbia. Clinically, Dr. Shalev Dr. Shalev directs an integrated consultation-liaison program embedded in Weill Cornell's ambulatory palliative care clinics and also attends on the inpatient palliative medicine service. Additionally, Dr. Shalev directs an NIH-funded research program focused on improving mental health outcomes for individuals with serious medical illnesses and is the current recipient of an National Institute of Aging Beeson/K76 Award to adapt and evaluate a model of Collaborative Care within the palliative care setting to improve depression and anxiety in older adults with serious illnesses. Dr. Shalev is a co-chair of the Academy's research special interest group and a psychosocial editor for the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management and is passionate about bridging the expertise of CL psychiatrists and palliative care clinicians.
