Dr. Vishal Patel is a Consult-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Fellow at Oregon Health & Science University with interests in neuromodulation, inpatient CL psychiatry, collaborative care, sports psychiatry, psychedelic medicine, nutritional psychiatry, and psychodynamic therapy and psychopharmacology. He is fascinated by the intersection of medicine and neurology with psychiatry. Dr Patel currently has publications in the fields of neuromodulation and collaborative care of dementia patients, along with manuscripts in family systems and youth sports, measurement based care, and treatment-resistant depression management that are in the submission and acceptance stages. He has functioned in several leadership roles, including completing a Psychoanalytic Fellowship at the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis, and providing formal and informal medical education to medical students and residents.
Dr. Patel is currently becoming more involved in the ACLP community, through SIGs and the annual meeting. He looks forward to gaining mentorship in the CL world and incorporating his interests into future practice. He grew up in rural Central Florida, completed an Applied Physiology and Kinesiology degree at the University of Florida, and graduated from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. He enjoys traveling around the world, hiking and backpacking, and playing various sports. He will be pursuing an academic position in the field of CL psychiatry upon graduation.
