Dr. Ali completed medical school at the University of Calgary, and psychiatry residency at Queen’s University, Ontario, with neuropsychiatry training at The Maudsley Institute of Psychiatry, London, UK. She completed a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Ali worked as a neuropsychiatrist and Assistant Professor at Toronto Western Hospital and University of Toronto for 6 years with primary liaison clinics with epileptology, rheumatology and physiatry. She subsequently worked for humanitarian aid organizations and the World Health Organization as a humanitarian physician in conflict and disaster zones for 3 years.
She currently works in an ambulatory consultation-liaison clinic in Toronto, and in outreach neuropsychiatry consultation services at a suburban hospital in Ontario. Her clinical focus is on traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, CNS lupus and adults with Intellectual Disability.
